Girotondo – Ordito e trama

All’interno di Festivaletteratura, nella sezione Girotondo ospitata alla Casa del Mantegna, Radici – Museo della Natura di Palermo – ha presentato Ordito e trama: un dispositivo curatoriale tra arte, gioco ed ecologia.
Non una semplice attività laboratoriale, ma un’architettura esperienziale progettata insieme all’architetto Lorenzo Lo Dato: un telaio scomposto e caleidoscopico pensato come strumento attivo di pensiero.
La domanda del contesto era se arte e scienza possano dialogare.
Radici ha scelto di spostare il fuoco: come tradurre un pensiero ecologico complesso in un’esperienza concreta e partecipata?
Ordito e trama ha reso visibili le relazioni ecologiche attraverso un gesto semplice e radicale: tessere.
Materia vegetale, parole, immagini e oggetti sono diventati fibre biodiverse.
Il laboratorio si è trasformato in un dispositivo relazionale capace di rendere tangibile l’interdipendenza tra corpi umani e non umani, elementi e comunità.
In un tempo segnato dall’Antropocene — in cui la massa dei manufatti umani ha superato quella della biomassa terrestre — Radici ha costruito uno spazio in cui il gioco diventa atto politico e poetico insieme.
Non un’esposizione da osservare, ma una struttura da abitare.
Non una risposta teorica, ma una pratica collettiva.
Arte, gioco ed ecologia non come ambiti separati, ma come linguaggio unico.

Girotondo – Warp and Weft

As part of the Literature Festival, in the Girotondo section hosted at the Casa del Mantegna, Radici – Palermo Nature Museum – presented Warp and Weft: a curatorial device combining art, play, and ecology.
This was not a simple workshop activity, but an experiential architecture designed together with architect Lorenzo Lo Dato: a decomposed and kaleidoscopic loom conceived as an active tool for thought.
The question posed by the context was whether art and science can dialogue.
Radici chose to shift the focus: how can a complex ecological thought be translated into a concrete and participatory experience?
Ordito e trama made ecological relationships visible through a simple and radical gesture: weaving.
Plant matter, words, images, and objects became biodiverse fibers.
The workshop was transformed into a relational device capable of making the interdependence between human and non-human bodies, elements, and communities tangible.
In a time marked by the Anthropocene—in which the mass of human artifacts has exceeded that of the Earth’s biomass—Radici has constructed a space in which play becomes both a political and poetic act.
Not an exhibition to be observed, but a structure to be inhabited. Not a theoretical response, but a collective practice.
Art, play, and ecology not as separate domains, but as a single language.
